  • Challenge

Customers increasingly start purchase decisions in AI assistants, but insurance rarely follows them there. NN wanted to explore what agentic commerce means for insurance, with a partner whose products were already built to be distributed through APIs.

  • Solution

Fidamy brought its device protection into ChatGPT through an app built with NN Ventures on Fidamy's existing APIs. People compare packages side by side in the conversation and finish in Fidamy's pre-filled express checkout, where the policy is issued instantly.

Commerce is moving into the conversation. People increasingly ask an AI assistant which laptop to buy or how two phones compare, and agents are starting to act on their behalf. AI platforms, payment networks and retailers are building the infrastructure to make it happen, and McKinsey estimates agentic commerce could orchestrate USD 3 to 5 trillion in global revenue by 2030.

For embedded insurance, that is a new point of sale. Protection works best at the moment of purchase, and when that moment moves into a conversation, protection has to move with it. Fidamy is going all in on making that happen.

Starting with ChatGPT

Together with NN Ventures, the corporate venture builder of NN Group, Fidamy has brought its device protection into ChatGPT. The app runs on the same APIs that power Fidamy's protection on retail product pages and checkouts, so pricing, eligibility and policy rules are identical wherever a customer starts.

Protection inside the conversation

  1. A customer describes their device and what they paid for it.
  2. The app shows a personal price for every package, side by side.
  3. It collects the details Fidamy needs, such as the device's serial number or IMEI.
  4. One tap opens Fidamy's express checkout, already filled in. The customer confirms, pays and is covered instantly.

Questions about cover, eligibility or claims are answered in the same conversation, so customers understand exactly what they are buying before they buy it.

Compliant by design

Insurance in an AI assistant has to be clear, fair and neutral. The app presents every package side by side without steering the customer, the contract is concluded in Fidamy's own regulated checkout, and the customer stays in control of every decision. Fidamy reviewed the set-up against the Dutch Financial Supervision Act (Wft).

Going all in on agentic commerce

ChatGPT is the first channel, not the last. Agentic commerce is a strategic priority for Fidamy: the same capabilities are being extended to other AI assistants and agent platforms, and to retail partners who want to offer protection in the agent-led journeys their customers are starting to use.

When insurance is built as an API, each new channel is an integration, not a rebuild. Wherever customers make their next purchase decision, Fidamy intends to be there.
